With strong community ties to the National Capital region, Ryan brings over 15 years of hospitality experience combined with 5 years of sales experience in the high tech sector to the Ottawa Convention Centre. Prior to joining us in the Spring 2009, Ryan gained his client driven knowledge of the industry working 5 years in event management as well as 4 years in the operations of Ottawa convention hotels.
As a graduate of the Business Administration program through Algonquin College, Ryan strives to increase his knowledge of industry standards and service excellence through continuing education courses, recently acquiring his CASE (Certified Association Sales Executive) designation.
A standing member of the Canadian Society of Account Executives and the Religious Conference Management Association, Ryan has represented the OCC both in Canada and in the United States. Locally you will find him working with charity groups and attending networking events always willing to discuss the exciting new opportunities within Canada’s Meeting Place.
With two young daughters keeping he and his wife busy there is still always time for morning visits to the gym and evenings playing recreational sports.
Dawn was born in England and grew up in the far north of Scotland, before she immigrated to Canada in 1991 and has created a home in Ottawa ever since.
Dawn originally trained to be a nurse in Scotland and furthered her studies in this regard at the University of Ottawa.
Since becoming a permanent resident she has enjoyed all that Canada has to offer, which is quite a lot since Dawn loves to be outdoors. Dawn's career includes a background in retail sales as well as sales for Minto Developments for 5 years before joining the OCC in 2000.
This is Dawn’s 10 year anniversary with the Ottawa Convention Centre. She has covered all markets for the OCC including the corporate and most often the national Canadian Association market. “Seeing the redevelopment of the OCC come to fruition is so exciting after being here through many attempts to make the expansion a reality, I am so proud to be a part of the team working on this important project for the city and for our industry”.
Dawn has served on committees for CSAE, YM/YWCA and has recently acquired her CASE (Certified Association Sales Executive) designation. She is a member of CSAE and PCMA and actively takes part in both organizations.
When not working, Dawn is a devoted mom to 2 small boys aged 2 and 5. She loves to be outdoors, is an avid keep fit enthusiast as well as a skier, hiker and general sports enthusiast. She also travels home to her native UK when time permits to spend time with family and friends.
Jacques Drury was born and raised in then the small town of Rockland Ontario and moved to Ottawa in 1967 and has been here ever since. Jacques career entails over 30 years in the Airline industry with a strong focus on Corporate and Association sales. Before joining the OCC he spent 5 years with a professional travel management company managing corporate travel programs for some selected clients.
“The need to get back into a sales function and especially the opportunity to build client relationships including total client satisfaction and the great “buzz” feeling of clinching a sale” is what brought Jacques to the OCC. Jacques has earned certifications as a CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) Emeritus and CASE (Certified Association Sales Executive)and he is also the past recipient of the Canadian Airlines President’s Award in 1995.
Jacques has been married for almost 35 years; he has two lovely sons, a beautiful daughter-in-law and recently became a grandfather in January. In his spare time Jacques is an avid skier throughout the winter and enjoys a good round of golf in the summer. When time permits he enjoys genealogy research, hockey and baseball. He also loves going to the movies with his wife.
Greg Joined the Ottawa Convention Centre in the fall of 2008 after spending time in hotels in Ottawa, Calgary and Banff. After spending most of his career focusing specifically on corporate incentive trips and conferences, having the ability to branch out into the Association world has been a welcome challenge that he very much enjoying. Hand in hand with that comes the excitement of being part of the team that will change the landscape of Ottawa with the New Ottawa Convention Centre.
Being somewhat of a tech geek, Greg is truly excited to see and get his hands on some of the new technologies that the new Convention Centre will be leading the industry with, truly showing another example of why Ottawa is Canada’s Place to Meet.
Away from work Greg spends most of his time with his wife and 2 boys. Most of this time like many Canadians is spent inside a hockey arena where Greg invests his time playing, coaching and continuing to learn Canada’s Game. With the upcoming Olympics on the Horizon Greg is Hopeful a gold rush is in Canada’s future.
