The Shaw Centre has a reputation of being able to transform its space into practically anything imaginable. It was no exception when the Centre’s fourth floor converted into a casino for The Grand Casino presented by Welch LLP on November 8. This entertaining, social event was all for a good cause with proceeds going towards the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.

The Grand Casino saw over 500 guests, all of which were given $500 “Welch Dollars” to gamble with. They could use this money to try their hand at 21 gaming tables or add their names into the pot for some great raffle prizes which included Via Rail tickets, sports ticket packages, hotel accommodations, gift certificates, even a mounted photograph of The Tragically Hip’s Gord Downie, performing at his last concert in Ottawa.

Vanessa Plante, Event Services Manager at Shaw Centre adds, “We love seeing a client’s vision come to life so The Grand Casino presented by Welch LLP was a unique event that we were excited to host. The Shaw Centre lends itself well to an event of this sort with ample space for guests to mingle, network and enjoy the entertainment, while of course offering picturesque views overlooking the city.”

The local accounting firm’s second annual event saw more guests than it did in its previous inaugural year, and brought in nearly $25,000 in proceeds for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. The Shaw Centre and its team hope to welcome back this successful event again in 2018!
