The Shaw Centre is home to many amazing events all year long, but just recently we held a culinary event like no other. The 14th Annual Great Canadian Kitchen Party Culinary Championships was held on February 1st, 2020 and it was truly an unforgettable evening! In the past the event has been held in Kelowna, BC but this year the event was held in Ottawa, here at the Shaw Centre.

12 chefs who won their national championship titles through Canada’s Great Kitchen Party earned their spot to compete in the grand finale. Each Chef was challeneged to create their best dish to impress the 14 culinary extraordinaire judges!

The sold-out show buzzed with 650 foodies indulging in the 12 plates created by Canada’s top chefs. Not only did the crowd enjoy an evening out with delectable food and beverage but proceeds were donated towards, Community Food Centre helping communities in need of food, MusiCounts a program where children have access to music programs through their school or community and B2ten whom provide training and development to elite amateur athletes.

“This event is close to my heart as I once competed in this competition 15 years ago. Bringing together the crème of the crop chefs to our facility and watching them all work simultaneously, it’s all about collaboration and sharing in this world, with this mind set, everyone is a champion. The highlight of my evening was presenting our new chocolate- By55 Noir N.o1 to the crowd, making the Shaw Centre the first convention centre in the world with our own chocolate profile.” – Executive Chef, Patrick Turcot

What an honour to have taken part in the planning of Canada’s Great Kitchen Party 2020. To be a part of such a unique event held at the Shaw Centre and to see it come together from the planning stage to the arrival of each competing chef, was a truly rewarding experience as a planner. So great to welcome such elite Canadian culinary talent to our facility. One for the books! – Vanessa Plante, Event Services Manager

We hope to bring this annual event to the city of Ottawa each year, what better place to hold the Canadian Culinary Championships than in the Nation’s Capital at the Shaw Centre.
